Bushwaffle Softens Historic Landmark

Bushwaffle as seating at Fort Mason, Summer 2009

We’re excited to announce that a set of Bushwaffle will be readily available to the public this summer in San Francisco! The entire pink inflatable swarm are being showcased in Destination Fort Mason Center, a summer-long event being held at and hosted by the historic landmark located on San Francisco’s waterfront.

Destination Fort Mason Center is dedicated to providing the public with free art and culture experiences in a wide range of mediums, and most of the pieces are interactive, encouraging visitors to address issues in art and the environment. Family-friendly workshops, treasure hunts, performances and gallery openings are all free! Bushwaffle will be set loose on most Saturdays until September 12 in conjunction with performances in Rebar’s Bandshell, a performance space made entirely out of salvaged material including car hoods, circuit boards and reclaimed wood.

The Bandshell’s colorful car hood dome is quite a sight rising from the Fort Mason parking lot, and Bushwaffle provide just the right soft, inviting surface for lounging and enjoying the variety of performances by musical groups, comedy troupes and circus acts. When it’s not programed by the good people at Fort Mason, the Bandshell is open to the public for events and performance. If you’re interested in reserving time with the Bandshell (and possibly engaging Bushwaffle as a seating option), inquire at contact@fortmason.org.

Have you spent time with Bushwaffle? Upload your pics to our Flickr Pool, where we’re tracking Bushwaffle sightings and documenting new emergent shapes created by innovative users of Bushwaffle! All photos and video welcome.
